The Venice Beach Cottage: My California Organic Modern Style
This Organic California Modern concept is about creating an effortless balance: the rustic story of weathered woods and artisanal macramé braids meets the luxury of buttery vintage leather and hand-crafted ceramics. Organic materials like dried palm fronds and air plants add an earthy, authentic feel, while pops of checkerboard patterns, playful color, and retro skateboards infuse homage to Venice Beach's eclectic energy. It’s a look & feel that’s comfortable yet polished, nostalgic yet forward-thinking—a space that invites you to sink in, slow down, and soak up the coastal vibes.
What defines my California Organic Modern Interior Style?
An Organic California Modern ethos and aesthetic are foundational to most of my design work. It layers a modern, clean foundation with elements of nostalgia, natural textures, warm light, native flora, and hits of California coastal art & culture.
My visual language is tactile — sun-drenched and salt-washed. But it is not your typical beige & vanilla California Coastal Newport Beach aesthetic. What really resonates for me is the hit of culture that’s often overlooked in standard California Modern interior styling: the rebellious spirit of 70s-era Dogtown Venice, original art and textiles, the nod to the iconic checkered Vans, and the sophisticated side of mid-century modern influences (never kitsch). It’s authentic and unapologetic while being truly inviting and relaxed.
